You have probably heard the quote from Benjamin Franklin, “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. I also love Will Roger’s quote, “The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets.”
Besides death, I believe God’s grace and our eternal salvation made perfect by Jesus is also absolute. Death has no sting, as believers.
However how we live our life matters. We must work out our walk and journey with God and we will do it until we die. Just as soldiers going into battle, patients fighting diseases in their bodies, or us blowing out yet another candle on the cake, we all know the inevitable will catch up with us. We will leave this life on earth. But while we are on this earth we must physically work out and keep our bodies strong, consciously choose a healthy diet, and we must spiritually “work out” our walk with God. It can be painful at times. When I work out, I tear down the muscle, so that it can grow stronger. What are you tearing down in your heart, mind, body, and soul so that God can be made stronger in you?
No one can do it for you. Romans 12:1, You are to offer up yourself (mind, body, spirit) as a living (not a lazy couch potato, video game, media blitzed brain dead blob) sacrifice (that means it has to hurt, cost you something, make you sweat) to God daily. Choose this day whom you will serve. Joshua 24:15.
