We live in a culture focused on the air as never before. We store our computer content in the ‘cloud’ – air. And of course, we have all been made more aware of the air around us, and what is in it since the Corona Virus, Eboli and other deadly diseases have invaded our modern era. However, God wants us to know that He, too, is in the air. His Spirit brings us healing and that in these days of deadly unseen disease to not forget that healing is in His wings.
God is in the air and the winds of restoration.
In Matthew 9:20, we read the story of the woman who had been bleeding uncontrollably. She touched only the blue tassels on the shawl of Jesus. In the Old Testament, Numbers 15:38-40, God commanded that the priests sew fringes or tassels of blue on their garments’ borders to remind the people of His promise to heal them and always be with them. They couldn’t see God, but as the air blew through the tassels, God would remind the people of His presence. The people would refer to the tassels as “wings” because of how the air flowed through them. The bleeding woman, I believe, knew the significance of the tassels when she touched them on the shawl of Jesus.
There is healing in God’s wings.
It is also interesting to note that he was actually on His way to heal a child who had died before He could get there. These two healings are tied together to an even deeper meaning that Jesus wants us to see. God heals humanity, the Church, and His believers because of the blood of Jesus, enabling us to conquer death ultimately. Jesus performed both healings because both trusted in what they couldn’t see. They had to have faith in what Jesus promised and not what they could see with their human eyes.
God’s healing in the air.
When you see the wind blow through tassels and fringe, be reminded to trust the Lord for what you can’t humanly see. Visualize the healing flowing through the wings of Jesus and the rustle of the Holy Spirit. God heals us today in these times of death, disruption and wars and the day will one day come for our eternal healing when we rise from the ashes. Malachi 4:2-3 (Message translation) says, “Count on it: The day is coming, raging like a forest fire. All the arrogant people who do evil things will be burned up like stove wood, burned to a crisp, nothing left but scorched earth and ash—a black day. But for you, sunrise! The sun of righteousness will dawn on those who honor my name, healing radiating from its wings. You will be bursting with energy, like colts frisky and frolicking. And you’ll tromp on the wicked. They’ll be nothing but ashes under your feet on that Day.” God-of-the-Angel-Armies says so.”
